Feed Sector Sustainability Think Tank Established

The Product Board Animal Feed is examining how the sector can contribute to the Cabinet’s climate objective. A think tank was recently established which is to provide recommendations after the summer.

Coasters will provide transport under the GMP+ inland waterway rules

The GMP+-standard for inland waterways has been extended to include the chartering parties in European short sea shipping. Charterers of short sea shipping vessels in which feeds are transported must be certified for this under GMP+ standard B4.2 Inland Waterways Affreightment.

Foreign suppliers advise on the improvement of GMP+

The supplier assessments and the company visits certainly have added value but there are also disadvantages to regulating the 'how' in GMP+. This was apparent on 5 June in Rotterdam during the international conference organised by the PDV for foreign certification scheme holders, organisations and companies in the Netherlands and the countries adjacent to us.

"Zero tolerance for prohibited GMOs not enforceable"

'Actually, in Europe we should depart from the zero tolerance of GMOs which are permitted elsewhere but not yet in the EU. It would be much better to establish a maximum value for the traces of GMOs permitted elsewhere. Because these GM varieties have already had a food safety assessment elsewhere there is actually no risk to food safety', according to Chairman Theo Meijer of the Product Board Animal Feed. The PDV has sent a letter to the Lower Chamber in this vein.
