GMP+ Appendix 1 Product Norms amended

Intended for: GMP+-certified companies and certification bodies

The Central College of Experts for the Feed Sector has recently decided to make a number of amendments to GMP+ Appendix 1 ‘Product Norms (including residue norms)’. A new version has been published today in which all the changes have been made.

The following amendments to Appendix 1 are involved:

Part A:

In Chapter 3 (the product norms table) the following changes:

  • Norm M1 (antibacterial inhibition): the scope of this norm has been extended to include all feed materials and liquid-rich mixes.
  • Norm C7 (Chlorine): the name Chlorine will be replaced by Chloride. The (undesirable) substance which is measured is the chloride ion and not the element "Chlorine".

Part B:

  • In Chapter 1 (Introduction): two references to sections in GMP+ B1 have been corrected.
  • In Chapter 2 (par. 2.2.1.a) the term ‘products' has been replaced by ‘feeds'.
  • In Chapter 3 (table 3.2: additional information for some coccidiostatica and histomonostatica), the table has been supplemented with new products and their respective coefficients.
  • In Chapter 4 ‘Residue norms for critical veterinary medical products', table 4.2 has been updated.

We should also like to inform you that work is currently being carried out on a change to the method for controlling residue cross-contamination. Section 2.2.4 of the current version of Appendix 1 states that there can be a deviation from the coefficients and the corresponding minimum carry-over if the agent in question is measured. This non-standard method will be described better so that companies can determine how they can comply with the residue norms.
