The marketing and use of feeds: new regulation nears completion  (27/02/2009)
On 5 February, the European Parliament agreed to the proposal from the Commission for a new regulation for the marketing and use of feeds. This means that a process lasting a number of years is nearing its completion. The introduction of this new regulation will mean that seven existing directives and decisions will be made unnecessary. The new regulation will become applicable one year after publication. This publication is expected this Spring.

Animal Feed Road Transport Hygiene Code Approval  (07/09/2006)
The first national guide for good practice for the animal feed sector has been established. The Ministry of Agriculture has approved the Animal Feed Road Transport Hygiene Code. The guide is also known as the Hygiene Code. By applying the Code, animal feed companies comply under the Animal Feed Hygiene Regulation (Reg. (EC) no. 183/2005) with the law. By working with an approved guide the VWA (Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority) audit of companies can take place more quickly and more efficiently.

Use of technical fats not permitted under the GMP+ Regulation  (22/06/2005)
The use of fats with a technical destination as feed material is not permitted under the GMP+ Regulation. Technical fats are not included in the Feed Materials Risk Assessment Database.

Interpretation of the Legislation on the Phasing Out of AMGPs  (14/06/2005)
No transitional period for the use of existing stocks is foreseen in the legislation with respect to the phasing out of anti-microbacterial growth promoters (AMGPs). There is therefore in fact, with effect from 1 January 2006, a prohibition on the provision of animal feeds which contain antibiotics other than coccidiostatica and histomonostatica as an additive.

Waste substances problem: the current situation  (05/03/2004)
By-products from the foodstuffs, fermentation and pharmaceutical industries are valuable raw materials for the animal feed industry and for livestock farming. Under the framework Directive on Waste Substances (75/442/EEG, amended by Directive 91/156/EEG), the National Waste Management Plan 2002-2012 and the jurisprudence of the European Court, these same by-products are also designated as waste substances.

Raw materials declaration is applicable  (02/03/2004)
At the request of the General Board of the Product Board Animal Feed (PDV), the possible legal steps have been examined which the Product Board could take to render the European Labelling Directive for Compound Feeds (open declaration) inoperable for the Dutch compound feed industry. The conclusion is that there are no effective possibilities for the Product Board itself.

PDV examines possibility of postponing Labelling Directive  (12/02/2004)
The Product Board Animal Feed (PDV) is examining new possibilities for rendering the European Labelling Directive for Compound Feeds (open declaration) inoperative for the Dutch compound feed industry.

Amendment BSE-regulation  (23/12/2003)
On 1st September 2003 the Regulation (EG) 1234/2003 became effective. This Regulation changes a part of the current BSE-Regulation.
