It provides information on the physiological function, requirement, evaluation of the condition for provision and effects of surplus and shortage for each mineral and trace element. Additionally, it contains sections on Cation-anion difference (CAD) in cattle rations, mineral contaminants, sulphur, nitrates and nitrites, quality of drinking water and complaints. Wherever possible, the calculation of requirement standards is based on the so-called factorial approach with separate weighting for the maintenance, growth, gestation and milk production requirements.
